David Schurmann

David Schurman (born in 1974, Florianopolis, Brazil) first showed a passion for film making at age 13, when he started filming the adventures during the Schurmann Family first circumnavigation of the world. After learning the secrets of the profession hands-on, he got a formal degree in Cinema in New Zealand. Afterward, he completed his education in the United States. He has worked internationally, directing and producing television shows, documentaries and commercials films.

Schurman, who had the privilege of growing up on board a sailing boat, also gives lectures to companies. As the official producer/director/cinematographer of the Schurmann Family adventures, he has registered some of the most beautiful images of the four corners of the world, especially during the Magellan Global Adventure (1997-2000).

In 2007, Schurmann released his first motion picture film, "The World Twice Around," a documentary which has won a number of prestigious awards, two in the Recife Film Festival in Brazil, for Best Film according to the public and Best Sound Editing. It has also taken the award for best film in the CineBrasil Film Festival Buenos Aires (Argentina), Milan (Italy), Rome (Italy) and New York (USA).

In 2011 David released "MISSING" a controversial transmídia project and suspense/horror mockumentary film. The project developed and shot for under U$35 thousand and with mostly unknown actors, was highly debated online and in the mídia, as it questioned what was real on the internet and the social networks. It was Brazil's first horror mockumentary film and transmidia project.

Schurmann is currently developing his next motion picture film, which is inspired on the story of Katherin Schurmann his adopted sister.
